ComputerA computer is an electronic machine or device that accepts instructions as an input, processes instructions gives required data as an output.

Basic components to assemble a computer:

  • Motherboard- The motherboard is the core of the system and all components are connected to it.
  • Processor(CPU)The CPU is the heart and brain of a computer. It receives data input, executes instructions, and processes information. It communicates with Input/Output (I/O) devices,
  • Memory (RAM)- Memory is internal storage areas in the computer system
  • SMPS/Power supply
  • Storage device(Hard disk)- The hard disk is the primary storage memory for the system.
  • Monitor

Processor:

There are two primary manufacturers of computer microprocessors:

  1. Intel
  2. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD)- cost effective

Memory:

Memory refers to the computer hardware integrated circuits that store information for immediate use in a computer; it is synonymous with the term “primary storage“.

ECC:For servers in businesses and data centers, it’s mission-critical to minimize errors in data, and that’s the purpose of ECC (Error Correcting Code) memory.

The memory we use are DDR2, DDR3,DDR4.

DDR3:

1333MHZ/1333CL9/1600MHZ/1600L(low voltage).

These are supported by 4th and 5th generation computers.

DDR4:

2133MHZ/2400MHZ/2666MHZ.

These are supported by 6th ,7th and 8th Generation computers.

Storage: HDD And SSD

HDD :

Types of HDD

  • 2.5 inch Hard drive / 5400RPM/7200RPM/capacity 2TB.
  • 2.5 inch SATA Hard drive
  • 3.5 inch Hard drive/7200RPM/6TB capacity
  • 3.5 inch SATA Hard drive

SSD:

Types of SSD

  • 2.5 inch SATA SSD / iops(input and output per second)
  • MSATA SSD
  • M.2SSD
  • PCI SSD( Its 3 to 4 times much faster than HDD)

Desktops / Laptops:

There are two types of laptop

1. Commercial Laptop

2. Consumer Laptop

Consumer Laptops:

Consumer laptops are inexpensive and plentiful, less cheaper than a commercial laptop.

Usually with no warranty or 1 year warraty and off-site support .

Operating system recomended for consumer laptop would be windows home.

Consumer laptop size will be 15 inch.

Commercial Laptops:

A Commercial laptop targets business. They are more expensive, but higher quality, more reliable, and more durable. We usually use Intel processor in 7th generation computers.Commercal Laptops will be available with 1 to 3 years of warranty, and on-site support would be given. Commercial laptops do not come DVD drive. The recomemded software will be Windows PRO. The size will be 14 inch.

Classification of Commercial Laptops :

  • Entry Level
  • Mainstream
  • Poweruser
  • Executive.

Enrty level Laptops :

These are the basic models, low cost, Costing around 21000 rupees

Mainstream:

These are basically used for office use , cost effective ranging from 22000-45000 Rupees,

Interms of processor mainstream laptops uses Core i3, core i5, AMD A8 and A10.

Power user:

These laptops are more expensive when compared to mainstream cost ranging from 40000- 80000 rupees . These are available with more memory space and its more sneaky.

Power user laptops are core i5, core i7, AMD Ryzen, AMD A10.

Classification on HP and DELL according to processors :
